Fire Safety

posted Oct 22, 2012, 6:43 AM by Den1 Pack3

Dear Parents,
Please remember to complete requirement 3fa and Elective 28 - practicing a firedrill and testing the smoke detectors in your home as this is VERY important!  We are reminding you of this because on this past Sunday evening a home in our neighborhood caught on fire and burned - thankfully there were no injuries.
Thank you.

Hello!  We had a great meeting on the 4th!  The boys practiced the Cub Scout Promise. Please make sure that they practice this at home!  Our goal is for the boys to earn their Bobcat Badge by the November Pack meeting.  This means they need to know and be able to recite everything listed on page 162.

The kids had a great time making weather pin wheels and going outside to test them before going off on our hike.  The kids learned a lot about the weather on Thursday.  They observed that it was cold and windy (those pinwheels spun really fast when the wind picked up!!) and also that the wind was blowing the leaves off of the trees.  They also observed that the ground was wet from the rain. Some kids even noticed that there was that fall smell in the air!!  Great observation boys!!!  During the hike, the boys picked leaves to do leaf rubbing!  The boys really enjoyed this activity!

Requirements for the next Den meeting:

Please complete 2F – reviewing a map of your community.

We will be working on 3D (Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe) so please bring in a magazine for cutting up and one food item that belongs on the food pyramid for donation to the F.I.S.H. Pantry.

Since October is Fire Safety Month – we are asking the Scouts with their family to complete 3Fa – planning and practicing a fire drill in their home.

And if you are really ambitious – complete 4F – taking turns learning about each of your family’s day.

If you haven’t already, please make sure you and your scout have completed Family Activity 1F.

Don’t forget to wear your uniforms on Thursday the 11th when we visit the West Dundee Police Station.  Remember – we meet in the cafeteria for our healthy snack before heading over.

If you know someone who works at a television station radio station or newspaper office, please let Meaghan or Christin know.  Thank you.

Also, please mark your calendars for November 8th as we have confirmed our next “Go See It” to the Elgin Public Museum from 3:45-4:45.
Thank you,
Christin & Meaghan

Also, we will be doing our first “Go See It” on October 11th at the West Dundee Police Department.  Please let us know if you will be attending.
